Star Wars Weekend at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Star Wars Weekends are an exciting time to be at Disney’s Hollywood Studios599_4686301195367_906910511_n

The special Star Wars events run Friday to Sunday from May 15 to June 14, 2015 and include special Star Wars merchandise, food, characters, celebrities, parades and more.

Many children, and even some adults, will dress up in their Star Wars costumes for the event.  I know that our kids would want to wear their costumes no matter how hot they were.  When searching for costumes, find your child a cheap, light-weight costume to wear to the park.  The Disney Store sells some cute Star Wars Costumes, t-shirts and accessories that could help you prepare your wardrobe. Amazon also has some Clone Trooper and Classic Luke Skywalker costumes as well.  It can be very hot in May and June in Orlando, so if your child does dress up, bring a spare set of regular clothes for them to change into once the novelty is replaced with lots of sweat.  With the multitude of Star Wars characters in the park, dressing up can make for some really great photos.

More guests will visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios on any given Star Wars day than just about any other day of the year.  These events draw very large crowds and things like FastPass+ for celebrity meetings, spots in Jedi Training Academy, and opportunities to be in the trivia contest are all often gone prior to or just after the park opens.

Padawan Mind Challenge

Join a pair of funny hosts for a series of fun and interactive Star Wars trivia challenges. Designed for ages 4 to 11, the Padawan Mind Challenge is a great way to watch your kids show off their knowledge alongside popular Star Wars characters.  You need to sign up your padawans at the Event Information Table near ABC Sound Studio.

Highlights of what’s new for Star Wars Weekends 2015 include:

  • Star Wars: Rebels”– Relive the first season of the Disney XD series “Star Wars: Rebels,” in an all-new show with Star Wars Weekends host James Arnold Taylor, the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and a special guest from the show’s voice cast, along with a few surprises.
  • Autograph Opportunities – Autograph sessions with Star Wars celebrities will be held in an indoor location, just off Commissary Lane near Star Tours – The Adventure Continues.
  • Darth’s Mall – They have expanded the complex of shops near Streets of America for the best selection of Star Wars merchandise.
  • Stars of Saga Star Wars Celebrity Talk Show – Star Wars Weekends celebrities host a 30-minute, Star Wars-themed talk show.

Legends of the Force: Star Wars Celebrity Motorcade is always a crowd favorite.

The grand motorcade features several of your favorite Star Wars characters and celebrities. The procession begins at the front of the park and travels all the way to the Star Wars Weekends Event Stage, and concludes with a grand celebrity welcome.

Summon the Force celebration

Each night the “Summon the Force” celebration will close out the day, with the “Symphony in the Stars” fireworks returning as the evening’s grand finale.
